Answers to some of the most commonly asked questions.
Q. What would cause my entry to be disqualified?
A. Two notes... 1.) The image that you upload is the image the judge will see - just scaled down to a smaller size. 2.) The photo you enter is displayed for your information on the page right after the entry form.
Judges will disqualify photos for visible farm signs, recognizable people, ribbons draped over the goat, or if the goat is in the distance too small to see.
If there's a bunch of goats in the photo the judge won't try to figure out which one was entered.
If the goat part of the photo has been altered in any way it will be disqualified and the entrant's farm will be barred from future entries and all of their previous entries will be removed from the database regardless of placing.
Automatic disqualification for duplicate entries of the same goat/photo.
Other things might come up that can disqualify an entry.
Q. I tried to enter a goat but was warned that it was already entered. We did not enter this goat before. Help!
A. If there is already a goat with the same name entered during the current season the entry will be rejected. Unfortunately there are a limited number of goat names so there are bound to be some duplicates. If you are absolutely certain that the goat has not been entered before there is a solution... slightly alter the goat's name. For example, if someone else's entry named Big George already exists you can still enter *your* Big George by using "Cortneys Big George" instead of just "Big George". Warning! Attempts to use this method to bypass the duplicate entry rule in the previous answer will result in the entrant's farm being Permananetly Barred from future entries and all of their previous entries will be removed from the database regardless of placing.
Q. What format do you need the photo in?
A. The entry form will accept only jpg or jpe files for security reasons.
Q. What information do you need with the photo?
A. The required information is controlled by the entry form which will not accept incomplete entries. Divisions and age breakdowns are listed on the Submit Entries page.
Q. What if I don't have a digital camera or scanner?
A. Sorry, I am unable to accept print photos.
Q. I am in the photo with my goat. Is that a problem?
A. YES. The judge will disqualify any photo that has recognizable people, places, things. This is a GOAT photo show, not a people or farm photo show.
Q. Can I use show photos?
A. Yes. If you use photos taken at a show they must be free from any ribbons. If you have a ribbon draped over their back or trophies displayed with the goat the entry will be disqualified.
Q. My goat is dead. Can I still enter his photo?
A. Absolutely. We have had a number of entries of deceased animals.
Q. I no longer own the goat I wish to enter, but I did breed it. May I still enter it?
A. Yes. If it's your photo taken when you did own the goat.
Q. Will I receive a confirmation that my entry was received?
A. No. Entries that have been received but not posted to a class will be listed on the Entry Status page. Those that have been assigned to a class will be in one of the classes listed on the Current Classes page and judged goats will be found through the Judged Classes page.
Q. How will I know if I've entered in time to make it into the right class?
A. New classes are formed all year.
